The Office Colors ©

Almost all Companies spend a lot of time, energy and money in trying to come with a better idea to improve their Productivity and Profits. In the process, they do not notice, the Colors in their Offices and Factories. One does not literally mean the Colors on the Walls but the different Colors of the Employees.

If the Management can spend some time to understand the different types of employees working in the organization, it is possible to see a perceptible change in the results at no extra cost. This approach will also help in the long run by reducing the employee turnover, improving productivity and adding to the bottom line.

What are “The Office Colors ©?” Using two basic qualities required to perform any job: Competence (You Can Do It) and Confidence (You Think You Can Do It), Employees can be divided into the BEST Matrix © of 4 Colors.

Type / Employee Color

Characteristics

Brash Employee

High on Confidence and Low on Competence

Expert Employee

High on Competence and High on Confidence

Shaken Employee

High on Competence and Low on Confidence

Timid Employee

Low on Confidence and Low on Competence

Ideally, all companies would like to have all their employees in Blue Color. Unfortunately, this is never the case even in the well-managed organizations. Treating all Colors in the same manner is a recipe for disaster. E.g. Giving a new project or assignment to a Green Employee is setting up failure at the first step. At the same time, if sensitive or important work is given to Red Employees, one might get unpleasant results. Are all the Yellow Employees beyond any more effective and efficient work in your company or gradually, their Competence and Confidence can be restored?

A clear understanding of the 4 Colors of Employees and their Strengths and Weaknesses can help the Management allocate appropriate work at varying times. Moreover, it will help the Management to graduate all Employees to become Blue over a period of time and also ensure, a Blue Employee does not slip and become a Red, Green or Yellow Employee. More important, it is in the interest of Management to look after their Blue Employee and ensure they do not leave the organization.

Before, you understand your Customers; it will be more prudent to understand your Employees.

You will find all the answers in the Learning Session – The Office Colors ©. This experience is recommended to be facilitated over one day.

Thought For The Day
Quote of the day September 4th, 2010
September 4th, 2010
Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do
